SOME FAMOUS TRIALS OF IMPORTANT PERSONALITIES

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad once said, So far the biggest excesses and victimisation have been purpetrated in the witness boxes of the courts?. Addressing a court as a an accused he told a judge,? You do your work and we are doing our and let the history write the judgement.? History bears witness to the fact that the government of the British disappeared and the names of the judges became extinct but those who appeared before them are still alive as indestructible milestones in history. In the known history prophet Jesus was the first ?accused? whom a Roman court sentenced to death on the basis of a unilateral and prejudiced decision. The court, its judges, members of Jury and the prosecutors all have vanished but the name of Jesus Christ still shines in the annals of history. Today for the interest of readers we want to discuss some renowned cases which became known in the world due to their political and social importance and history shall not erase them for years to come. The case of Jesus Christ is sanctified in the history and is also referred in the holiest book of the world Quran AlHakim. From the known history one finds that another case was also presented in a Greek court in which certain accusations were levelled against Socrates But Socrates claimed that he was reforming the society and disseminating new ideas to the younger generation in order to keep them abreast with the demands of the new times. But the people in authority of that period were opposed to Socrates? teachings, his philosophy and dissemination of knowledge. He was told that he deserved capital punishment. Either he should tender apology or drink a cup of hemlock poison. His friends and pupils advised him to ask for forgiveness so that he could remain with them. But Socrates said that by drinking a cup of poison he would apparently die but in the pages of history he would live forever for his ideas, thoughts and philosophy. His decision was not wrong. Socrates eternally lives in history with his ideas, thoughts and philosophy.

One of the famous cases is the one proceeded against the British King Edward VIII in the parliament. He had fallen in love with an American widow Mrs Simpson and wanted to marry her. According to British traditions and practice the King could not marry a widow. But the British King was insisting that for him love was more important than the British crown. The parliament tried to pressurise him telling him that he was King of an Empire where sun would never set and at that time British power was at its zenith. He was told therefore that bowing to the traditions associated with the British crown he should close the chapter of his love. But Edward accepted the loss of crown and gave up the kingship of Britain and married Mrs Simpson. The details of his prosecution and his decision were widely read and heard in the world. His case was of great interest to the public and even today it has special importance.

In 1962 long-drawn legal proceedings were initiated against the Turkish premier Adnan Mendres which were widely published in the world media. Ultimately he was sentenced to death. He was tried for various charges. Today no body remembers the names of the judges or the charges brought against him but Adnan Menderes? name would live for ever. In 1973-74 American President Richard Nixon was charged for installing bugging devices in the headquarters of the opposition party at ?Water Gate? to find out their secrets. It is said that Richard Nixon had full knowledge of this bugging but again and again denied it. The evidence however proved that he was lying. The American public thought that they could not tolerate a liar as their President and Richard Nixon who was elected as President for the second term bowed before the verdict of the people and resigned from his eminent position. A wave of protest spread in India when the most popular Prime Minister of India Mrs Indira Gandhi enforced emergency in the country and she miserably lost in the general elections. She who remained Prime Minister for 16 years was proceeded against in the court of an ordinary magistrate .The proceedings of this trial were flashed in the newspapers of the world and the magistrate sentenced her to imprisonment for forfeiting the democratic rights of the people. The incident was given wide coverage by the world press. After remaining in jail for a few days she was released and after two and a half years she again became the Prime Minister of India.

On 4th April 1979, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the ex-President,the ex- Prime Minister and the first civilian Chief Martial Law Administrator of Pakistan was hanged. The then Martial law government had dug out an old first information report (FIR) which had been registered in connection with the murder of Mohammad AhmadKhan Qasuri. The charge was that Mr Bhutto had conspired with the officials of the Federal Security Force(FSF) to kill one of his party members in the national assembly named Ahmad Raza Qasuri. In Lahore?s Shadman Colony when Mr Qasuri along with his family members was coming back after attending a marriage party he was attacked by the functionaries of FSF. He himself escaped unhurt but his father came in the range of firing and died on the spot. Mr Qasuri who was a lawyer by profession and a member of the national assembly got a first information report registered in Ichra police station that this murderous attack on him was carried out under the instructions of the Prime Minister in which his father died. A few other names were also implicated in the FIR. After registering the report police sealed it and when Bhutto was removed as the Prime Minister and People party?s government came to an end and Martial law was imposed in the country by General Ziaulhaq, the case was re-opened. After preliminary investigations the case was presented before a Lahore High Court bench consisting of five judges. According to routine this case should have first gone before a magistrate and then a session judge but high court has authority to carry out the session trial of an extraordinary case itself. That is why the acting Chief Justice of the high court Moulvi Mushtaq Husain instituted a full bench under his own chairmanship and began the trial.

The lawyers of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto took the plea that they did not have confidence in the full bench particularly in its chairman Moulvi Mushtaq because he had personal wrangle against Mr Bhutto but Moulvi Mushtaq turned down all the objections raised against the bench and decided to continue the hearing himself. Upon this Mr Bhutto boycotted the proceedings and instructed his lawyers to stop pleading the case. The honourable court upon this ordered Mr Bhutto?s lawyers to continue pleading the case as defence lawyers at state expenses. Interestingly it was for the first time in its history that the court had ordered the tape recording of the proceedings of a case. The recording button was with Moulvi Mushtaq and only that part was recorded which he deemed fit for recording. For first time in a court of law the new terminology of principal accused was used for Mr Bhutto and a special booth was made for the principal accused and Mr Bhutto was supposed to sit in that special box and was not allowed to talk to any one without permission of the special court nor was he allowed to give any instructions to his lawyers. On this Mr Bhutto lodged a strong protest but it was rejected by the court. A part of the cross examination and his statement on certain special subjects were recorded in camera and People Party?s protests against it were also rejected.

The proceedings of this case were started in September 1977 and on 18th March 1978 the Lahore High Court announced death sentences for the former Prime Minister Mr Bhutto and the other four accused officers of FSF involved in firing. An appeal against the judgement was lodged in the Supreme Court. Mr Bhutto was given the opportunity to appear before the Supreme Court himself. He stated that he had full confidence in the court and if they sentenced him to death he would accept their verdict. During the course of proceedings one judge retired reaching superannuation and the other was removed from service because of his illness. Thus the bench comprising nine judges was reduced to seven judges. The Supreme Court in March 1979 upheld the death sentence awarded by the High court. Out of seven judges three judges disagreeing with verdict of the High Court ordered Mr Bhutto?s acquittal while four judges upheld the death sentence. All the four judges upholding the judgement belonged to Punjab while among the three dissenting judges two were from Sindh and one was from Frontier Province.

The former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka Mr Justice Raja Ratnam has written a book on Mr Bhutto?s trial which is named ?Judiciary In Crisis?. In his book Raja Ratnam has discussed every aspect of the judgement and after analysing the trial, its proceedings, and the arguments of prosecution and defence teams has expressed his dissatisfaction on the performance of prosecution and defence lawyers and has stated that during the proceeding bench had ignored many facts and the proceedings of the trial were not conducted in accordance with the legal requirements. He also expressed his dissatisfaction over the performance of defence team who, according to his presumption ,were under immense pressure of the honourable court. He has also analysed the attitude of the judges of the Supreme Court. The bench consisting of nine judges was reduced to seven and here also the decision of the four judges was tainted in political colour although they knew it fully well that it was a trial for murder and the punishment would not be less than death sentence to a single individual or seven persons . Therefore it it was imperative to pay more attention to this trial. (Part One of Twentieth Chapter)Since Supreme Court is not bound by any rules and regulations to provide justice therefore the Supreme Court was supposed to look into the shortcomings and weaknesses of the high court judgement but it was not done. Rather Supreme Court could order that another bench should hold the proceedings again but Supreme Court did not bother to have a fresh look at the judgement of High Court. Raja Ratnam has therefore disagreed with the decision of the Supreme Court of upholding the death sentence of Mr Bhutto. The legal experts and human rights activists from around the globe came to Pakistan to watch the proceedings of Mr Bhutto?s trial. They severely criticised the judgement and the attitude of judges and even today this judgement is regarded as a doubtful judgement.

In 1982-83 in Iran the young, intelligent, highly educated and an excellent orator of international repute Dr Sadiq Qutabzadeh was put on trial for treason. Dr Qutabzadeh lived in exile in France with Imam Khomnieni for a long time.He was considered as his special pupil and worked as his spokesman. Suddenly the proceedings began against him that he was an American C.I.A. agent. The trial ran for a long time which was being heard by a revolutionary court of Iran. The proceedings of this case were reported by the newspapers through out the world. The governments from all over the world appealed for clemency for Qutabzadeh but on the order of the revolutionary court he was executed by shooting. During the same period former Prime Minister Amir Abbas Hovaida was also tried for treason. Hovaida held the portfolio of education and other ministries in the cabinet of Shah of Iran for nearly twenty five years and then remained Prime Minister for twelve years. It is said about him that he was the Professor of International Relations and Political Science in the University of Tehran before joining the cabinet and even as Prime Minister when ever he was present in Tehran he would make it a point to go to the University and teach the students. It is said in Iranian circles that he was a man of clean and impeccable character. He contributed a lot to the promotion of higher education in Iran. During the reign of Shah of Iran he tried his best to make education universal and inexpensive for the common man. Today the high standard of education and literacy in Iran is owing to his hard work.

The revolutionary government had only one objection against Amir Abbas Hovaida that he was opposing the revolution by associating with the counter-revolutionary forces. The proceedings of the trial of Amir Abbas Hovaida were published by the newspapers through out the world and the leaders of the world appealed for granting him clemency against the death sentence but the Irani government acted upon the decision thus denying a very knowledgeable personality the right to live. but his name will eternally remain in history and in the list of knowledgeable personalities.

In 1997 it was revealed that President Clinton of America had developed relations with a White House internee and a beautiful Jewish girl named Monica Levinsky and he was giving her gifts and presents and both of them were enjoying in the Oval Office of the White House. As the statements from different circles appeared in the press and allegations were levelled she was relieved of her position in the White House. When too much hue and cry was raised by the American Press the American Law department appointed a lawyer as the judge of a special court and handed him the case. This court appointed a special prosecutor to investigate and procure evidence for the prosecution and started its proceedings. This was undoubtedly a unique and strange case which exposed the new culture and social structure of Europe and America. The powerful people of American administration specially the American President stood exposed of their immoral tendencies and the lawyers proved it that the President was involved with a woman in an indecent manner. There are many aspects of this case but the most serious aspect is that morally American society is at its lowest ebb and even the biggest American leader has no moral standard. But at the same time it also showed the whole world that the reason for American domination over the world is that the administration of justice is very strong in that country. In spite of their immorality and dishonesty they are still maintaining the process of accountability in a free and transparent manner. The practical manifestation of this was given by the personal appearance of Mr Clinton along with his lawyer in the court when summoned by the presiding judge of this temporary court. He was cross examined for two days for six to seven hours at a stretch in which he confessed that he had relations with Monica. Due to this confession by President Clinton the American public forgave him and the President apologised to the nation through television and newspapers.

In 1998 the renowned Malaysian economic expert Dr Anwar Ibrahim was arrested and was tried for moral and monetary corruption. Anwar Ibrahim is till in one of Malaysia?s prisons. The world media has shown extraordinary interest in his trial and so much has been published in the world press about him so far that many books can be compiled. This also shows that the whole world is watching each step of his trial and no injustice can be perpetrated against him. At the end we talk about the proceedings of the case instituted against the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mohammad Nawaz Sharif known as Plane Hijacking case. The basis of this case are the orders of the former Prime Minister issued concerning the landing of the plane carrying the Pakistan Army?s Chief of Staff and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Parvez Musharraf at Karachi airport. The plea of the former Prime Minister and his legal advisers is that he never gave such orders but the prosecution has made many senior officials as witnesses who were in senior positions at the time of occurrence of the incident. They have held the Prime Minister responsible for giving the orders. This trial is the centre of interest for millions of the people round the world because on this depends the future of Pakistani politics.

Although the nature of this case against Nawaz Sharif is different but there are some similarities between this case and that of another former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
1. Like Mr Nawaz Sharif , Mr Bhutto was also far removed from the place of incident.
2. The allegation against Mr Bhutto was that he had conspired with officers of FSF to murder Ahmad Raza Kasuri. In this case also the allegation against Nawaz Sharif is that he conspired with the officials of civil aviation to stop the landing of General Mushrraf?s plane at airport and therefore caused danger to the lives of General Musharraf as well as the plane staff and the passengers.
3. The approver in Bhutto case was the director general of FSF Masud Mahmud while in this case it is Nawaz Sharif?s favourite high official Amin Ullah Choudhry.
4. During his case they used to bring Mr Bhutto to the court under strict security conditions, similarly Nawaz Sharif is brought for trial under more stringent security arrangements.
5. Just as the army was acting against the supporters of Mr Bhutto similarly the government is now proceeding against Nawaz loyalists.
6. Just as the world leaders and political personalities were applying pressure on Ziaulhaq for clemency to Mr Bhutto similarly important people from around the world are appealing for clemency and pardon to Nawaz Sharif.

GENERAL PARVEZ MUSHARRAF IS SHOWING THE LOST WAY

When such is the condition of the reputed and popular politicians of the country ,as described earlier, then the faith lies only in the Pak army and if the signs of faith are missing in the army then it no more remains the Pak army because the first lesson given to our army is the service and defence of the nation and the country on the basis of faith. For this both the officers and the soldiers put even their lives at stake. For the conditions that were prevailing in the country before 12th October 1999 an army action was imperative. It was the need of the country and the nation. So what happened was good and at least every one welcomed it with open arms. World was surprised that there was not a single voice of protest raised on the removal of a government with such a heavy mandate and the suspension of the democratic system. There were no demonstrations on the roads. People were happy that a corrupt government has been removed. The lesson that the nation got from democracy was bitter and expensive. The people had to pay exorbitant price for this lesson. But this is a good lesson which one can not get from schools and universities.

I am doing carpet business here in Japan. Some times some customer does deceive me. I incur lot of loss also. Whenever I get dejected by such a loss then my wife always encourages me and tells me, ? partner, take it as a good lesson and thank God that you learnt it at such a low price. Always have positive and constructive thinking. ?On the basis of this philosophy of my wife I advise Pakistani people that although these politicians have misappropriated a huge amount of Pakistan?s capital (some of the statistics of this embezzlement have been found out and the remaining will be unravelled in due course of time) but whosoever has looted this Pakistani capital will not be able to digest it because this wealth belonged to the poor people of the country. In order to cure this serious illness the whole nation is being administered a bitter medicine in the form of Army government. They should swallow it and see its effects. For such ailments the medicine is also usually very bitter and difficult to swallow. The people should not worry unnecessarily and should wait for the results which would appear gradually. By taking wrong food one can not have a good physique. With wrong money no respectable person can become rich. The thief is always a thief. By eating wrong things you would be inflicted by a dangerous and chronic disease. This is law of nature.

In the circumstances when the army and intellectuals of the country are busy in thinking as to what should be done and which system of government they should introduce in the country what ever thoughts I am presenting are not meant for the purpose that you should agree with my ideas and vote for me and accept me as your leader.
We are away from our motherland who would have faith in us.
We are sitting in Japan. To love our country and worry about its predicament is our job. We have no pretensions to contest elections and join the band of rulers. My true and the only leader is God Almighty Himself. Who always guides me back to the right path because in accordance with His faith I am strongly adhering to his string. If the child walks holding the finger of his father he never loses his way. Parents never want that their children should go astray by letting off their finger. If it so happens then the parents would go and search for them as mad people.

I see that people go to Mecca in search of God. They visit holy places and go to saints for asking them to pray for them. But my thought and intuition says that our God Allah is searching for us and calling us that ?ye the Muslims of Pakistan ! Return to me. Where are you lost. You told me that Pakistani nation wants Pakistan(The Land of the Pure). But you are now destroying Pakistan with your own hands. Instead of making it strong you are yourself eating away its foundations to render it redundant in spite of the fact that I have blessed this piece of land with the capacity to produce lot of wheat, rice, pulses and different types of fruits. Come on and make your lives respectable and worth living like a respectable nation.? I am watching God with my own eyes and He like a loving and disturbed mother is calling us and has kept the door of our return open for us. But when shall we enter this country as a nation after listening to the call of Almighty God? We have no clue of this at present that our Creator is searching for us. But where are we? What are we doing? When shall we return to our home?. Sometimes I have a feeling that my compatriots have become homeless even in their own home. From their minds and hearts the concept of a home and a country has vanished which is a very dangerous sign.

May be that General Musharraf and his comrades have come to show us our lost way. At least one can infer it from their intentions that they are trying their level best to bring back peace and satisfaction in the people and solve the problems of the country. I wish my Pakistani brothers look at the condition of poor Palestinians who lost their country due to their own mistakes and now they are living a life of ignominy and disgrace in the world and they are getting their own motherland as bits of bread. How much sacrifices they have made for it can be assessed from their history of last fifty two years. Can?t our Pakistani brothers realise the importance of a country from the experience of Palestinians? God forbid that some thing similar happens to us and we lose our country and get it back in bits as is happening in Palestine.

LET THE PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN BUILD A NEW PAKISTAN

I am an ordinary Pakistani citizen. I am not a philosopher or a thinker or a politician or a candidate for election. My thinking or dream of building a new Pakistan is as follows:
We do not need a new philosophy or a new system. The old system that we have is not useless either. Rather we have never practised it honestly so far. Where is the ideology of Pakistan? We never practised it. The ideology of Pakistan is as new in 21st century as it was new in 1947. Our this software will never go old in even during the next thousand years. However we should at least try to follow it. It will always remain new and practicable. High ideals and true dreams never go old nor their importance diminishes. Mother, father, grand parents can go old but one can not throw them into the dust bin. In this modern era the old moral values and thoughts are as Important as these were years ago and it is my firm belief that by following the ideology of Pakistan in its true spirit we can build the new Pakistan of twenty first century. I shall quote the example of computer. If there were no Window 95 we could not have upgraded it to Window 98 and we could not have raised it to Window 2000. If we carry the old system with us we can make many inventions and innovations. Not by throwing away the ideology of Pakistan but by upgrading it we can enter the twenty first century with pride. We now need to become International Pakistani. The time that we have lost and the experiences that we have gained should be kept before us and in their light we should try to understand the sayings of the founder of Pakistan.

Faith This is the first pillar of ideology of Pakistan. We need to lay the new and correct foundations of faith and for it we have to understand its meaning. With religious differences and prejudices we have made this important and valuable pillar very weak and the results are before us. Faith is a pillar not a tree and this can be strengthened and reinforced. It can not grow on its own but once if it is laid with strength then no storm can demolish it. The fault lies with us that we have not properly nurtured our faith. That is why it has gone weak. If we strengthen it with positive and correct thoughts and actions it will again become strong. Because the first pillar of ideology of Pakistan remained weak therefore we could not raise the second pillar that is unity .And in the absence of these two pillars how can we raise the third one namely discipline.

Whenever I go to Pakistan then I stand near the square of three swords in Clifton Karachi for a long time and watch these three swords and ponder over the words written on them which are ?Faith, Unity and Discipline?. And I think that we have indeed written these three words on these swords of stone but could not inscribe them on the hearts of the citizens of Pakistan and made them understand their meaning. Looking at such high ideals and the present predicament of Pakistan I feel pain.

The direct implication of my ideas is that we should make Pakistan a self reliant country on the pattern of Japan. Instead of importing cars, machinery and their spare parts we should import good policies and decent political practices from Japan. If we agree on doing this then I am sure the government of Japan will be too willing to assist us in building a new Pakistan. Japan is already financially helping Pakistan in many sectors but as a country Pakistan does not have a close friendship with Japan. By making this friendship stronger we can obtain more benefits from Japan. Personally I have close contact and friendly relations with many important political and administrative personalities of Japan. Due to complete mastery over the language and having expertise in interpreting this language I have had lot of opportunities to meet the political personalities and big traders, capitalists and industrialists from different countries of the world and listening to their ideas and thoughts .Knowing that I am not a Japanese and am a Pakistani sometimes while shopping they tell me some very confidential things as well which help me to understand their national character. Besides meeting nice and good people in Japan I have also met some dubious people as well. Many Pakistani and Indian citizens are caught while smuggling some commodities or smuggling themselves in to Japan. Some times I have to interpret them as well. This has helped me in learning much about the legal system and its application besides the political, cultural and social traditions of Japan. Thus in addition to politicians, industrialists and traders some lawyers, magistrates and public prosecutors also became friendly with me and from them I learnt a lot about he social and legal traditions of Japan. It should be our endeavour that we should adopt every good thing where ever we find it. It is an Arabic saying that every good and wise thing is heritage of a Muslim. So we should adopt good things and save ourselves from bad things. These principles should be kept before us in democracy and system of governance. Here I want to quote a simple example. In summer days if there is power shutdown (which are quite frequent in Pakistan) we open the windows of the room to get fresh air from outside. But when you open the window along with pleasant puffs of air some flies and mosquitoes also enter the room The example of democracy is the same. Due to full freedom some bad things like flies, mosquitoes and dust also enter the system. In Pakistan we face this problem. When the window of democracy is opened we have an onslaught of dust along with flies and mosquitoes which is painful for every one. My mother generally says that we should not pray for good people because they are already good rather we should pray for bad people that God may make them good. Mother talks about it in her own way but I have read in Bible that Jesus Christ used to say that he had been sent for sinners and spiritually sick people so that sinners become virtuous and sick become healthy. Answering some one?s question Jesus Christ said,? Shepherd has to care about every sheep of the herd but he carries only that sheep on his shoulder which is sick?. He said that he cared more for sinners and sick people and he gave more time to them. Now it is imperative that the bad people should be made accountable and they should be provided psychological and spiritual treatment. DDT should be sprayed to kill flies and mosquitoes of evil so that the conditions of the country improve.

While building new Pakistan care should be taken to keep the window of democracy open but a thin and strong screen of accountability should be installed on the window so that flies and mosquitoes of corruption, bribery and social evils do not enter the room. In that case only the people of Pakistan would be able to enjoy the cool and pleasant air and tranquil life. We need to build a democratic and peaceful Pakistan. The reason for democratic culture and social peace in Japan is that they have installed a very thin and strong screen through which not only flies and mosquitoes but even dust can not enter. That is why it is very difficult to get visa for Japan. We need to import these Japanese windows and doors with thin and strong screens. I am prepared to send all this to my Pakistani brothers without any cost. This effective system of Japanese policies and accountability will allow accountability system to function and if any influential or administrative personality will commit any irregularity or corruption this system will put shackles to him and present him before the law . This will render Pakistan strong. I can say with full conviction that the system prevailing in Japan was not invented by their forefathers. Rather the ideology of Pakistan was given to us by our father of the nation. Which ever country would practise its first principle which is Faith shall tread on the path of peace and progress.

I am living in Japan for the last fifteen to sixteen years and since I have full command over Japanese language and have full knowledge of their rituals and traditions and their social and cultural norms I can say with full confidence that as many honest people I have seen in Japan I have not seen any where in the world. There is no comparison of Americans, British and French people with Japanese. I do not want to say that other nations do not have honest people or Japanese are all hundred percent honest but what I mean to say is that the proportion of honest people among Japanese is more than any other country of the world. That is why the rest of the world has full confidence on Japanese products rather there is no scope for any doubt about it. The real character of a nation depends on its actions. If its actions are good then surely their thinking and heart will be good and ultimately the ideology will be sound.

The punctuality is the first principle of Japanese. The buses, the trains and aeroplanes operate in Japan at a fixed schedule. It is impossible that this time schedule is not followed. The other important principle is cleanliness. You will find thousands of skyscrapers not only in Tokyo but in the rest of Japan. There is no dirt any where. There is not a single building which is sore for the eye rather the buildings and roads are kept glittering with cleanliness. After looking at this cleanliness in every nook and corner of Japan one can draw conclusions about their social cleanliness. The biggest secret of their progress is that discussion on religion and politics is banned in government departments and offices. In Japan political freedom is allowed. Religion is a personal matter of every person and there is no restriction on it but in offices, government departments, schools, colleges and universities the debates on religion or politics is not allowed. There is no sectarianism of any type here.

It will be interesting for the readers to know that I had a chance to talk to the people of different Budhists sects. I had discussions with them but I never found them talking against others nor they do any propaganda against them. Instead of talking with me about Budhism whenever there is a chance they invite me as guest speaker in their meetings. It is their magnanimity that they ask me questions about Islam and I go there fully prepared taking religious books with me and try to answer their questions about Islam as best as I can. Due to this many Budhist monks have become my friends.

The purpose of telling all this is that neither we are weak nor Islam is weak. Therefore we should freely take pride in the goodness of our religion and try to spread its teachings. For example we think that we are Muslims therefore we can monopolise Almighty God and holy prophet. The truth is that the God is the God of all the universe and Prophet Mohammad is a blessing for the whole universe and Muslims are a part of it. So I beg to submit that if any nation develops a strong faith and confidence in God Almighty then God favours that nation. You must have observed that on every American Dollar it is written ?In the name of God we trust?. May be it is on this count that America has made such a fast progress in the last one hundred years which is evident before the whole of world. Morality, character and religious status is a separate matter. The Clinton scandal with Monica Lewinski has made Americans realise that their whole nation has identical character.

PAKISTAN IS NOT A COUNTRY OF RED OR YELLOW LIGHT BUT OF GREEN LIGHT

The colour of Pakistan and the hearts of people of Pakistan is green.

The colour would talk and a fragrance would come out of it.

Let us talk to the green colour. When we shall talk with it we shall see that a fragrance comes out of it. We shall easily under stand it if we think of life, prosperity, pollution free atmosphere , pure thoughts and look at the green signal of a road crossing. The green signal indicates that we can pass it calmly without any fear or danger. With this reference to the green signal Pakistan should also be a peaceful country secure and free from all dangers for its citizens. The people here should work with full zeal, discharge their responsibilities and then lead a life of peace and tranquillity. But what has happened here these days. If we look at the present condition we find that in their hearts the people of Pakistan have lost interest in the green colour and have become fond of yellow and red colours. The reason is that some people have discredited the natural green colour and made it dull and unpopular. Every where people are getting red and yellow and spreading the stink of sectarianism. Some where there is colour of provincialism, and some where there are linguistic differences. Now who can make them understand that if they try to trespass the yellow or red light they would end up in collision. The blood will be spilt on the road and where ever this collision would happen it will not be a pleasant one. It would be dangerous and sorrowful. No body thinks that this collision is the result of ignoring the green light. After green light a yellow light comes which warns you and makes you careful that you should be prepared to put your life on stake in the red light.. The green light signifies the third principle of Quaid-e-Azam which is discipline that we should proceed under a system, a law, a control and an order. The green light remains on for this purpose. One should cross it with care and safely and move onwards to the destination. But when yellow or red lights are on then it means that your are no more allowed to move. If we examine carefully we find that in Pakistan red, yellow or green lights perpetually remain off . Sometimes it is a black out, or a power shut down or a load shedding and at places the fuse is off. Under these circumstances how can we improve the traffic system of Pakistan and if we can not run this system of traffic lights how can we run Pakistan. In our beloved country the balance between red, blue and green lights has gone of the hook for such a long time. The lights of the road can be repaired any time but the real balance lies in our minds and it is imperative to repair it first of all. There are many patriots and architects of the nation who are trying to switch on the lights of the nation. Many patriotic intellectuals are drawing the attention of the common and elite Pakistanis towards this problem. I am one such weak and humble person sitting far away from the country who wants that the generator of their minds and hearts should be switched on to restore the flow of current to their minds and they have a sense of realisation that if the lights of the minds are switched off then the lights of the roads become meaningless. If we do not have any feeling for red , yellow or green lights then terrible accidents can happen as the one happened on 16th December 1971– the Fall of Dacca which resulted in the loss of half of our country .

The poet had so beautifully written:

Whether a storm comes or a wind strikes we have to keep the light on
We bore so much pain for this house, after all it is our home.

This Pakistan is our home. We have to keep the light on in it at all cost and giving every sacrifice. Those Pakistanis, who do not have any realisation of it, should come out of the country and see. The people think that the oil of its lights have finished because some of our compatriots have plundered it and rendered it poor. But we have to give every sacrifice to rekindle its light and we will continue to do so.

Presently there is a military dispensation in Pakistan. After extinguishing the red light a yellow light has been switched on which is a warning for us that we should be careful and remain beware of the enemies of the nation plunderers and looters hidden with in our own ranks. We are not pessimistic. The green light will soon be kindled which will make the paths of the people easy to tread. And in this atmosphere if the light of any Pakistani is on he should provide power to his Pakistani brothers so that they could switch on their lights as well and develop a sense of realisation for the interest of the country. If you agree with me then I shall request you to pray to Almighty God after Namaz (prayers) that He may grant us the light and kindle the lights within ourselves so that the candles of our conscience light up and we could brighten the future of our country. But for this light and power we shall have to bow before the God Almighty. I tell you it is an easy way. The power connection from God Almighty can be obtained free of charge and for power connection from WAPDA we have to submit many applications, to bribe many people and to beg them over and over again.

Pakistan is a God- gifted country. This has been specially granted by Almighty God.The God granted capability to Quaid-e-Azam that he was able to carve out this country on the world map. The God gave us a big country which has every resource and weather. On this land every blessing of God could be found. But we lost His way and started sowing the Satan?s crops here instead of God?s products. Tell me, are dishonesty, faithlessness, deceit, corruption and plunder of country?s resources God?s gifts?
Are deceit, trading in narcotics, anti-national activities, smuggling, fraud, theft and robbery the professions of Muslims? We Pakistanis are all party to these sins in one way or other. We have already received enough punishment for this. We talk of Islam but the blessings of Islam have turned their back on us. We attend Haj Baitullah every year in large numbers but we do not have a single good characteristic of a Haji. But we are not disappointed because still there are many among the 140 million people of Pakistan who are beacon of light of the teachings of God and the holy Prophet(PBUH). We should collectively try to reform those who are wrong. No one shall come from heavens now to reform us We have before us the book of God and the teachings of holy Prophet(PBUH). We have the sayings of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. We have to reform ourselves in the lights of these things.

The process of reforms has been initiated under the leadership of the Chief Executive of Pakistan General Parvez Musharraf. It is the our desire and that of every patriotic Pakistani that this process should proceed faster and more strongly. No corrupt should be pardoned. Now the Supreme Court has granted powers to the Chief Executive to bring about lot of reforms in the country. We pray that God should give them will to guide General Parvez Musharraf and his well-intentioned colleagues to tread the right path and reform the conditions of this God-gifted country. (Amen)

THE DECEIT IN THE NAME OF GOD

I am a humble servant of God. When I bitterly wept in the presence of God and implored Him to improve the condition of Pakistan and grant it economic stability. I told Him 140 million people of Pakistan are praying before You that since You made this country as a blessing for Muslims , now You should also as an act of beneficence shower your blessings by making Pakistan stronger and better. The God listened to my prayers and called me in his audience and said,O my devotee! Your love and sincerity for Pakistan has compelled me to summon you and show you that not only the rich but also the rulers and the people of Pakistan are deceiving me. I beseeched him, O God! The people of Pakistan are very humble. They have been exploited by the rulers and privileged classes. The God upon this replied, We made prayers (SALAT) compulsory for Muslims so that they attend the prayers and mould their lives accordingly. Namaz makes the character and the deeds of a human being pure and clean. Holy Quran is such a Philosophers Stone that whosoever believes in it with full understanding and true heart and acts according to it, if he touches anything then that thing turns into gold. But look at the Muslims of Pakistan. .Politicians, bureaucrats, judges, journalists, traders, capitalists, landlords all attend to prayers but act according to their own discretion. They have invented a new philosophy that prayers and meditation of God is one?s personal act and business is a separate thing. And we had ordained upon Muslims to meditate in order to promote truth and develop a high character so that they are always afraid of their Creator and never do any thing against the wishes of God .

I was surprised and ashamed and was drenched in perspiration of regret. Then a few angels placed before me two cups of wheat flour. The God told me that in one of the cups the flour was of Pakistani origin and in the other there was flour which is consumed in Japan. The Pakistani flour contained pieces of dry bread and wood and other impurities ground with it although Pakistan produces large amount of wheat. We have blessed Pakistan with highly fertile land, plenty of water, excellent weather conditions but Pakistanis are enemies of their own brothers and make them eat such things that render them sick and unhealthy. After that the angels showed me flour produced in Japan and I was told that Japanese are not Muslims nor they have Quran, nor they attend to prayers five times a day but adulterating the consumer commodities, practising dishonesty and deceiving some body is a crime. Similarly I was shown hundreds of commodities made by Pakistanis in their factories for their fellow Pakistanis but all of them were injurious to health and poisonous things. The foreign countries have disallowed entry of these things in their countries but Pakistanis are feeding their fellow citizens with these things.

While trembling I asked the God Almighty , O God! Please show them the path of righteousness . Create in their hearts a feeling for righteousness and a hatred for the vice.. Upon this Almighty God replied, O devotee! I have bestowed the human beings with mind and conscience. I have given them a sense to distinguish between good and evil. If I had to undertake all this task then why did my dearest and most respected Prophet withstood so much suffering and pain? I could have changed the thinking of the apostates of Mecca and they had accepted him as the prophet. Today the whole of the world would have been Muslim. But this is not our principle. I made the man as my deputy on the earth. I gave him the status of the superior most being on the earth. I gave him faculty to think and understand and made him master of his actions. After that I fixed a day of judgement. The task of guiding the human race was completed with prophet Muhammad (PBUH)and revelation of my book Quran. Now whosoever will not act according to principles ordained by me will be punished. Go and remind the people of Pakistan that they have a code of guidance and conduct with them. They should act upon it and I assure them security and safety of being. If they shall not act upon it then they will be themselves responsible for their actions.

I fell down after listening to the God? s command and weeping bitterly prayed, O God Almighty, Punish the sinners without doubt but there are millions of those Pakistanis who are your devotees from the core of their hearts and by their deeds. They are not the fake people.? The God ordained, .Our blessings and mercies are showered on Pakistan due to these pious people. But if the practising people with their good character can not turn their compatriots good then in order to wipe out dishonesty, deceit, and falsehood we shall have to sacrifice these people.. I submitted that General Musharraf had started the process of making Pakistan better and implored that he be given a chance to do it. The God said, This is your internal matter. We had ordered that the faithful should co-operate in the good and pious work for the welfare of people and refuse to take part in the evil and bad doings.

Then on the instruction of God the angels showed me those things which were gifted in the name of God and the heap consisted of wheat flour, dried bread and old and torn clothes. In a corner I also found a small Munshi Hospital, Fatima Memorial Hospital and some institutions of Karachi but in front of the big heap of gifts received from others these were just like a match box. Then the angels showed me gifts presented by non-Muslims and I was surprised to see among them Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Gulab Devi Hospital, Janki Devi Hospital, Mayo Hospital , Lady Wellington Hospital and many welfare institutions of Karachi and Peshawar. On behalf of English people and other non-Muslims huge heaps of pure dried milk, Ghee (Butter Oil), medicines and all sorts of cereals were there. The angels said that all this was not consumed by God but whatsoever one gives in the name of God does reach here. Among the gifts here I also saw Shifa Hospital of Rawalpindi and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital of Lahore as well but one could count them on fingers and in front of the Himalaya of stinking things these were just pea nuts.

Bowing my head which was heavy with remorse and shame when I left then Almighty God ordered, We have not closed the doors of repentance. We have not stopped giving our blessings. Nor have we fixed any day of punishment for Pakistanis so far. Go and understand yourself and make your Pakistani brothers understand all this .In order to understand the truth of God no one needs any arguments nor we require any sacrificial presents or charity. If some one gives any charity he reduces the burden of his sins .One who would do good and follow the path of truth and virtue in his life will reduce the burden of sins and raise one?s status. Tell the people that they should not increase the burden so much that they can not carry it.

Was it a dream or a thought or something to do with the Almighty God, only He knows better. I was feeling that as if I saw it all with my own eyes. There have been many virtuous people in Rawalpindi. Whenever they name God they use the word Allah Badshah ( God the King) although He is the creator of Kings and Emperors and decides their destinies. Even then many lovers of God call Him as Allah Badshah such a king who is really the creator and master of every thing of this universe and there is no one except Him. It is He who is there and shall remain there but we Pakistani Muslims make fun of Him.(God forgive me).

This Pakistan is the home of Allah Badshah. Do not spoil it. Make it clean and pure. But to do it , my Pakistani brothers, first purify your intentions, thoughts and faith. Almighty God and His prophet told us this, taught us and rendered all this in writing. Then why this wrong doing? Today we have to decide whether we want to live in the darkness of dishonesty or want to see our coming generations to flourish in the light of honesty. It is my earnest prayer that the coming generation should see a clean and pure and the most respected Pakistan in the world.

MY THEORY AND PAKISTAN

January 8, 2009 by

According to article 4 of my theory we have to establish a system of uprooting vice from the heart of every Pakistani and I have full faith and can say with full confidence that it will change the destiny of Pakistan. And I know that Pakistani people should be presented with this system as a ?gift? .Because Maulana Altaf Husain Hali had also said the same thing in his following verse:

It is better to be human being than an angel
But this entails lot of hard work

I wish the politicians of my country would understand this elixir of faith. Pakistanis are the most intelligent people in the world. It is imperative that their minds and hearts should be purified. I have a Japanese Washing Machine. I wish that I should put all Pakistanis in it and wash away all the stains and blots from them. As an example I want to tell you some thing about the Japanese system:
Fifty two years ago the conditions of Japan were worse and more precarious than Pakistan. After the destruction resulting from the Second World War the Japanese thought that war was not the solution of any problem. The most complex problems can be solved by talks. The problems can be solved with out the use of force. This thinking emerged in Japan when Americans turned two of their cities in to ashes by dropping atomic bombs. Hundreds and thousands of people of those cities met a terrible end. The people of Japan are still facing the injurious after effects of radioactivity. Japanese are not coward people they are extraordinarily brave people. They have pride and know how to lead a respectable life. They developed a work plan for their nation according to which:
1. The higher education was declared compulsory for every individual of Japanese nationality. Today you will only find highly qualified and skilled people in Japan and in the whole of Japan you will not find any illiterate or uneducated person.
2. The people of Japan have signed some agreements with America under special circumstances. Whatever are the reasons for these agreements the people have accepted them wholeheartedly and adhere to them. They love their freedom and democracy.
3. The singular aim of Japanese people is to develop themselves and their country and to make them selves significant in the ranks of highly respected nations of the world. You can see that Japanese have succeeded in it.
4. The Japanese people and democracy has established such a strong system of accountability in the country that the dishonest and corrupt people are themselves spotted out . During the last ten years five prime ministers of Japan were caught with the allegation of corruption but hey never told lies. They confessed their fault, returned the national property back to the nation and after that the people never saw their faces and they went into oblivion.
5. The Japanese people hate lies and hypocrisy and producing fake things. The presence of Japanese TV set, VCR, refrigerator and electronic goods in our homes are witness to the fact that not in our country but every where in the world people have full confidence in the Japanese products. It is so because Japanese are hard working and honest people. If making of a fake thing involves the same skill and hard work then why not to make genuine things rather than fake things. Can not Pakistanis ponder over this matter?

I want to emphasise that only educated nations make progress and their thoughts are also directed in the right direction. The illiterate and ignorant people just follow the beaten path and they lack the imagination in creativity. Even today we have a chance to follow the first path. The conditions can not change if the mentality is not changed. Let us advance towards a new destination with a new hope. The candle of hope has been kindled by us, the Pakistanis living abroad now it is for you to step forward and nurture a hope for God Almighty?s guidance.
These days one can listen to the slogans of accountability in Pakistan and other countries of the world. In those countries where the process of accountability has been made an integral part of the democratic system there the people get surprised to find that there were certain countries which were being run without any process of accountability. Those countries where this process did not exist before are now adopting it. Pakistanis are included in this list and every Pakistani wants that the accountability system is implemented and completed successfully. But these are functions of the governments. Let the governments do them. Nevertheless as a Pakistani it our duty to do self accountability.

As I am myself a Pakistani who lives in Japan I see that every Japanese carries out his duty himself. The Japanese society does not depend on the government. But we Pakistanis always depend on the government for every thing. Every one expects that the government should approach him to do some thing for him. But I see that it is not so in Japan. People do not look towards the government for any thing. They do it themselves. That is why I shall tell my brothers and my nation that this is the period of entering the 21st century. You should forget that the government will come to your help or shall do any thing for you. Every Pakistani has to make his life himself. We know our weaknesses ourselves so if we want we can improve ourselves and then we shall not find any impediment in our way.

Pakistan is like a beautiful colour television in which we watch good programmes but some times we have to watch the bad scenes as well because that is our fate. But when our TV has a blank screen then it means that some thing has gone wrong with it and we need to get it repaired. So we need a highly skilled mechanic or engineer who can fix it. But only that person can repair it who knows the technique and engineering of repairing a TV. An architect or a civil engineer who digs out canals can not repair it. So it is imperative for us to search for an engineer who is expert in repairing a TV.

I have already presented a seven point manifesto for setting Pakistan right and the most important article of this manifesto is No 4 that calls for eradicating all evil and mischief from the heart of every Pakistani. I know that only those people will act on this article who are in search of a system for them selves, their families and for the 140 million people of Pakistan that can expedite the accountability process in the country.

INJURY-RIDDLED PAKISTANIS

January 8, 2009 by

In the fifty two years the taxes and soaring prices have so much wounded Pakistani nation that the body of the whole nation is full of injuries. The body is full of blue spots and blooding is oozing out of them. The whole nation is crying from the agony of pain and perhaps now they do not have the enough strength to raise hue and cry. In this condition there is neither any doctor nor any indigenous medicine practitioner who could heal them. They have been so gagged and beaten that they are left with no strength to cry or protest. They can not even raise their voice.( I, myself, and millions of Pakistanis have left their country because of these reasons and are working in foreign lands). The accountability process has started and this process will continue but the who will heal the injuries to the minds and hearts of Pakistanis and the pain ravaging their chests. The structure of whole body is about to disintegrate.

It is my endeavour that in the light of Japanese technology and a little bit of Japanese engineering I should guide the people in power to rectify the faults in the Pakistani system. This would help in setting right the Pakistani system and bring it back to the healthy condition. Let us begin by talking about providing the ointment and bandages to the pains and injuries. Instead of sprinkling salt on the wounds if the number of people who put balm on the wounds is increased then gradually the injuries can heal up. Because of the different policies of the successive governments which the people of Pakistan think are wrong the whole nation has been perpetually suffering. Now the people are hoping that the army administration will proceed very carefully. The protest is due to the fact that people have no more strength to experience pain. Moreover there is no utility of causing more pain to the people. Therefore they should not bring more harm to the people by increasing their tax burden or escalating the prices. More than eight hundred thousand educated Pakistani youth are wandering jobless. Give them employment. Apparently it seems to be a very difficult task but it is not that difficult either. More than eight thousand factories and manufacturing units are lying closed in Pakistan. Proper measures should be adopted to run them again. Surely it will help in reducing the enormous unemployment. An ordinary and simple Pakistani is pulling on with great difficulty. The government should help him and if they can not help him then it should not further depress him by increasing the taxes and prices.

The Almighty God has bestowed this world with enormous quantities of every thing. Pakistan is not deprived of these God- gifted resources. The God has not levied any tax on his resources but we have taxed God?s resources including water and the earth?s produce except the air. Now the people have fear that if IMF and World bank would propose to levy tax on fresh air then our bureaucracy would not delay in enforcing it. We started talking about the ointments and bandages and healing the pains. When the proper treatment is not given there is danger of the wounds becoming septic instead of healing and if the condition worsens then the affected parts are amputated. It will be better if we could heal these wounds with the help of ointments and bandages. I had written elsewhere that my grand father was a hakim (indigenous doctor) and as the grand son of a hakim I want to present Japanese ointment to my Pakistani brothers which is so powerful and effective that it will heal all sorts of wounds and emancipate the people from all pains and miseries. Then we shall be able to bring prosperity to Pakistan and make it economically strong. We are talking about medicines and treatment because we want to do self treatment. These Pakistanis are all like the members of a family. Let us first work together for reforming it and treating its ills. Those weaknesses that we have individually and personally should be removed first. We should consider ourselves as a single nation and a single family Then there will be no problem left for solution. When we shall consider each other as a brother, sister, daughter or mother then how shall we deceive ourselves. Who will adulterate spices with pulverised bricks? Who will mix stale and dirty bread and sawdust in the wheat flour? Who will adulterate butter oil and mix water and powder in the milk? Yes there should be law for the same. It is the responsibility of the administration but these administrators are also our brothers. When all of us would work hand in glove and we, Pakistanis, will live like brothers then the dishonest and corrupt will not come from outside. The country is like a shady tree. The nationhood and patriotic feeling are the trunk of the tree and the provinces and the families are the roots. Let us strengthen its roots together. We should fortify its trunk. If we shall do so then this tree will flourish and its shade will also increase and expand. If the country has strong roots then no storm or cyclone will succeed in dislodging it. In order to enjoy life together and to strengthen the relation of mutual friendship we should organise many festivals. Marriage is one such festival in which friends and foes all get together. The cruel people have not stopped the two hundred million annual expenditure of prime minister house and other institutions but have spoiled this pretext of social gathering. The government should have helped the lower income groups on such occasions and had told them to invite all friends and relatives on the marriage of their daughter and sit and dine together. This increases the mutual love. If I had the power I would organise all festivals of joy and happiness on state expenses in all the four provinces so that the brotherhood and fraternity would strengthen and become deeper.

Now there is the problem of taxes. In Japan whosoever works pays tax to the government. There are hundreds of thousands of aliens here including those who are illegally living here. Wherever they work the tax is automatically deducted from their salaries. Similarly in Pakistan the poor segment of society pays the taxes and almost everything is taxed directly or indirectly. In Pakistan whosoever eats bread gives tax. One who smokes also pays tax. Count any commodity in the market which is not taxed. Fruit, vegetables. eatables, cloth, shoes, everything is taxed. Whenever people buy these things they pay tax. However the rich people do not pay any taxes. Whatever tax is paid by industrialists and wealthy people, their water and electricity bills or petrol expenses are all paid by the common man. They receive all their expenses from their companies.. I have met many people in Islamabad whose income is in millions of rupees and have dozens of air conditioners in their houses which are running day and night. When I asked them about the bills they said that the company paid them. The income tax is also paid by the Company. These people only enjoy.

The number of feudals is though diminishing in Pakistan but their number is still not very little. They suck the blood of the poor. Even today in Pakistan the agriculture is being controlled by landlords. I keep visiting countries like Sweden, Denmark etc. They have co-operative societies of the farmers there. They sit together and assess that for the people of the country how much wheat, rice, pulses, and oilseeds are required. How much cotton or sugar cane or vegetables should be grown? They tell the government in advance as to how much these commodities will be produced during the year. The result is that neither there is a price hike nor the government has to import these commodities in emergency.. In Europe and America agriculture is not the matter of a bullock and a plough. It is being run on most modern scientific and technical lines. In every country superior research institutions are engaged in research work. After thorough study of food materials and agricultural products they find out ways to improve these materials and make them more useful for human beings. On the other hand these research institutions develop such seeds which are free from diseases and produce more crops. Even in India they are taking care that industrial development and population explosion does not affect their agriculture. In order to increase the agricultural production high quality fertilisers and pesticides are supplied on low prices. The government takes care that the adulterators of these materials are given exemplary punishments. But in our country the farmers are denied all these facilities. With expensive fertilisers, expensive seeds, expensive electricity and highly expensive water who would sow the crop and who would take its care. Every farmer or landlord is trying to sell his land and build colonies or high-rising plazas .

In Japan, Europe and Scandinavian countries and even in our neighbouring country India the sale of agricultural land for non-agricultural purpose is a crime. The agricultural land can only be purchased by agriculturist for agricultural purpose. Why Pakistan is exempt from this restriction? While constructing motorway the rulers of Pakistan committed this cruelty that hundreds of thousands of agricultural land was converted into a road and now there is the programme of constructing bungalows, colonies, and factories on thousands of acres of agricultural land on both sides of this motor way. In the rest of the world the roads and factories are built on such land which is not being used for agricultural purposes. I wish our rulers had acted with sanity. They could widen the Grand Trunk Road from Karachi to Peshawar and could have doubled the railway track between these two cities. Thus Pakistan would not come under debt burden of billions of rupees and thousands of acre of agricultural land would have continued producing the essential commodities. This would have also resulted in an increase in the revenue of the government. But a single man ,in order to fulfil his dream and to receive kick backs of billions of rupees, has hit hard at the Pakistani agriculture. How can we complain to him? He will himself be accountable for this.

Looking at Pakistan as a tree it appears to be a tree of autumn season. But we the expatriate Pakistanis are not disappointed from the blessing of God. Pakistan came into being as a result of a good seed and it was earlier nurtured by good-intentioned people. But we made mistakes in nurturing it at a later stage and now we have to rectify those mistakes. Let us pray that let the present period be the last period of difficulties of Pakistani people.

WHERE IS YOUR DESTINATION ?

January 8, 2009 by
Filed under Let me come to Pakistan

Now the most important thing for us is to identify our goal that is where we want to go. To which direction we have to advance? If we fix our destination and choose the right path and the right vehicle then we can reach our destination.. But for many years we have been wandering without identifying our destination. We are facing destruction and set-backs but blindly heading towards the unknown destination.
1. We have to educate the whole nation
2. We have to fight against poverty and destitution
3. We have to raise our status and pride in a such a manner that we are respected as a nation in the world.
For education we shall have to employ those methods which have been adopted by those countries which are poorer than us and have lesser resources. We have the examples of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka before us where the literacy rate is round hundred percent. In these countries the government or a few individuals have not made education a source of earning. There every type of education is free of cost. To get educated it is not necessary that the person should be rich or wealthy. The educational institutions give free books as well as scholarships to intelligent students so that more and more people could get education. Pakistan is an atomic power. But in our country education has been totally ignored. By handing it to the private sector it has been turned into a profitable business. Education is not a trade. It is a worship. In order to restrict the scientific and modern technical education to wealthy class the fee and other expenses have been so much increased that for an ordinary degree hundreds of thousand rupees are required which is beyond the capacity of a common man. That is why he is devoid of education.

The present government should publish the statistics showing that during the last ten years how many people have received higher education in science and social studies. How many people have qualified in the modern education of computer. I feel that we can forgive all other lapses of the former rulers but they should be severely punished for establishing monopoly of private sector on education sector and have pushed the whole nation into the darkness of ignorance and this crime is unforgivable. One can pardon bribery, corruption and looting of national exchequer?..but the crime of making the nation illiterate can not be pardoned.

Then next comes the poverty alleviation. The governments all over the world base their economy on strong footings. They know how many people are inhabiting the country. What are their vocations? Those who are unemployed are provided with work. During the reign of kings the big buildings like forts, palaces, prayer places and gardens and parks were built in order to provide work to the people. In the present times the modern and developed nations determine the average per capita income of each individual and for his respectable living a minimum wage is fixed. If they fail to get any employment or the government is unable to provide them work then they are paid an unemployment allowance. The expenses for his education and health are borne by the government. It is the fundamental principle of Islam that every citizen of an Islamic state has:

* A respectable house to live
* employment and healthcare
* security of life and property

But what is our government doing? What has happened during the last fifty years? Feudals, wealthy people, presidents, prime ministers and governors live in official residences and also receive pensions. Although they do not need these facilities because they are capitalists and feudals but they are looking after their class. This tendency continues and it is necessary to finish it.

In order to wipe out poverty and destitution you do not require a huge budget. What is required is a positive approach. There is need for recasting country?s economy. There is need for an expert who could turn the direction of the economy towards lands, factories and the people of the country. In Pakistan the government, under the instructions of IMF and World bank, are selling all public sector industries.. But the most heinous crime of the previous selfish rulers was that they sold first the profitable industries like cement factories and other industries producing Ghee and other consumable items. And some of these industries were sold so cheap that the factory which had only land worth billion of rupees were sold with machinery, bank balance and running business at a very low price. It happened with hundreds of such factories. Thus the rulers turned this process into a business under the name of privatisation. The result was that they kept selling the assets of the country and in this process the sellers and buyers became billionaires and the poor man became poorer and with that the 140 millions Pakistanis were also rendered poorer. The value of the currency of a country which does not own any assets becomes almost zero. This has happened with our country as well. In order to improve the country?s economy it is necessary that secret investigations are carried out about the units that have been sold under the name of privatisation and whosoever has committed this dishonesty should be brought to book. Both the buyers and sellers should be given exemplary punishments. In those countries where privatisation is carried out those industries are sold first which are either running in loss or need more capital. But in our case reverse has happened.

The second important thing is that government allotted industrial plots to industrialists and factory owners at very nominal prices. In the Kot Lakh pat and Kala Shah Kahu industrial areas the lands were sold for a few thousands rupees per acre. Now these industrialists are selling these lands given for the purpose of setting up industries for many hundred thousand rupees per Kanal. Although this land was given to them on lease for setting up industries and not for making colonies. But who should hold them accountable? Only the present government can do this because the previous governments were business partners in their mission of destroying Pakistan.

If the present government declares not to privatise PIA, Railway, WAPDA. Thermal Power Houses and other important units then the value of rupee will increase. There will be more confidence in Pakistani rupee internationally. The plans should be made to expand PIA and WAPDA. The previous rulers received bribes and kickbacks from the transporters and damaged Railway and PIA. This anomaly should be rectified. Railway and WAPDA are like spinal column of Pakistan. To sell these institutions is against the security of Pakistan. However if the defects of these institutions or anomalies created in them are removed the economy can take a turn in the positive direction.

Poverty ,destitution and price hike can not be eliminated by increasing the salaries. More job opportunities should be created in Pakistan. More than 8 thousand factories and industrial units are lying closed. They should be revived. Their products should be properly marketed. There is no harm even if the government has to provide some loans to these industrial units for the running expenditure. There is only one method of poverty alleviation in Pakistan that is that more job opportunities are created and the factories are run three shifts. Any one who wants to work should get a job. Then there will be no poor or destitute in Pakistan. But today around 8 million educated youth are wandering on the roads with the degrees in their hands. The government is duty bound to provide them jobs. This is the primary responsibility of every government and if any government shirks from this responsibility it has no right to rule the country.

The third important point is the question of country?s status and respect. When every one will have to work hard for his livelihood then there will be peace and tranquillity in the country. Every where there will be safety and security. At present whosoever likes starts talking against the security of the country without hesitation. The reason is that majority of the people are frustrated due to unemployment and price hike and that is why they even have the patience to listen to anyr diatribe against Pakistan. Every one thinks that Benazir a feudal woman remained busy in looting the country. Her husband Asif Zardari remained engaged in illegal activities. After them the Nawaz Sharif family and their cohorts started fleecing the country. In these conditions if some politicians tell the people that ?Was Pakistan brought into being for the loot of the feudals and capitalists? ? People are watching all this with open eyes. And are getting disillusioned from all this. But when every one would get busy in his work and receive remuneration in proportion to the work put in by him then no one will have any time left to go and listen to the talk of these useless people. Hence these fake politicians would not be able to mislead the people. .

Thus it is imperative that the economic system of the country is restructured. The non-productive expenditure and the number of bureaucrats is reduced. The people come to the elected bodies on their own discretion. Their stipends should be discontinued. All the concessions given to the prime minister. opposition leader and members of the assemblies should be stopped. No one should be allowed to import a custom free car nor any prime minister or president be allowed to do that. The discretionary powers and budgetary funds of central and provincial ministers, governors and other high officials should be discontinued.

The Pakistani politicians are at present suffering from defeatist mentality and they have passed on this psychological disorder to the masses. The new government should take steps to remove this psychological aberration. The previous rulers were on one hand looting Pakistan and on the other creating discontentment among the people. They would tell the people that if such and such step was not taken the security of the country would be in jeopardy and God bid the country would cease to exist. Shame to them. They are no more in power but Pakistan is there. The people are expecting some sort of relief from the government. The government increased the price of the wheat but the people did not protest against it thinking that this increase would be passed on to the farmers. But what will the people get? The government should reduce the power tariff or reduce the price of petroleum products. Some concession must be given to the people. The Chief Executive should ponder over the fact that during his sixteen months in power what have the people gained. Benazir Bhutto declares from abroad that the government is destroying the country. Kulsum Nawaz says that the government?s days are numbered. What is government doing?

How can the people associated with NGOs who speak English and receive secret funds from foreign countries run the government. All these people have been patronised by the foreign agencies and institutions. It is foolishness to have confidence in them and to have great expectations from them. All these people are supporters of enforcing IMF and World Bank recommendations in Pakistan.

PAKISTAN —-AN INDIGENOUS DEMOCRACY

In Pakistan they talk about democracy with much fanfare. Today the whole Western world and America are upset due to the suspension of democracy in Pakistan and they are worried as to when democracy will be revived. Not a single country has pointed out that the looted wealth stashed in the foreign banks by corrupt politicians, industrialists and bureaucrats should be returned to Pakistan. Our politicians and other corrupt people have concealed their ill-gotten wealth in America and European countries. All these countries are supporting the thieves instead of asking them to return the wealth to Pakistan. This proves that the system of government which the Western countries want to foist on Pakistan in the name of democracy is not the real democracy. Rather this system has been enforced in this country
by them so that the corrupt people could deposit their ill-gotten wealth in their banks. In fact they want to build their economy on strong grounds by using this wealth and the people of Pakistan are under debt of all these countries and are suffering at the hands of bad economy.

The Pakistanis living abroad always wish that the conditions of Pakistan become favourable so that they could shift to Pakistan with their families and business. I want this too. My Japanese wife, my in laws and children so much like Pakistan that they are thinking of living in Pakistan. But as soon as I come to Pakistan I am swarmed by relatives and a large circle of friends and acquaintances with requests and applications that I should help their sons or brothers settle in Japan. In reply to this I appeal to the whole Pakistani nation to help in letting me and my family come to Pakistan for settling there. We love Pakistan so much that perhaps those living in Pakistan would not be loving their country that much. I have studied the reason for this very carefully and have found out that we Pakistanis are naive and loving people. What we need here are the basic facilities.

1. There should be an education system in Pakistan in which the poor and rich should be able to receive education on the basis of their capability and merit. Which means that the fee should not be exorbitant but the educational institutions should be credible.

2. The economy of the country is brought back on right footings.

3. The law enforcing agencies should be trustworthy and each person’s life and property are secure.

If these three things are set right then Pakistan can become an exemplary country for any citizen of the world. In Pakistan the first step for local or indigenous democracy ( not Western democracy) is strongly adhering to the string of Almighty God and adopting the principles laid down by the holy Prophet(PBUH) for political mode of life. We are fully acquainted with these principles and feel spiritual contentment by practising them. In fact neither any other system or philosophy gives us satisfaction nor can we run any other system in the most appropriate manner. Therefore whenever we shall talk about these things the discussion will begin with the need for adhering to the string of God strongly.

I am neither a religious leader nor a politician nor a highly educated philosopher. I am an ordinary citizen of Pakistan with average education Whenever I encounter any difficulty or confusion I ponder over the matter thoroughly. I look at every aspect of the problem and ultimately turn to Almighty God for help. Please believe me he solves all my difficulties. Because I am myself attached to the string of God I am trying to make my Pakistani brothers understand its implications. The purpose is that they should adhere strongly to the string of God and then to derive benefit from this support is the personal act of the individual. In it no one has his own discretion.

If we look at the continuity of history we find that billions of years have passed since the creation of universe but the history of morality and consciousness which is preserved in the libraries is not so old. Only four thousand years ago the man attained wisdom and after developing for two thousand years he has reached the present stage. It is then that we developed capability of recording our history. After six hundred years of Jesus Christ our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) arrived. Before him many prophets came and all of them gave lessons for reforming the human being and stressed for adhering to the string of God. The crisis of morality and character always exists in this world and it is God who helps and leads in solving it. And it is by catching the string of God that we can hope for emancipating ourselves and other smaller things. One who does not adhere to this string in fact exists in vacuum.

THE PARENTAL GUIDANCE

On 5th November 1999 I received the startling news that my father Muhammad Hanif Mughal had died in Rawalpindi. On receiving this news in Japan I immediately booked a seat in the next flight and arrived in Pakistan. After the take over by the military in Pakistan this was the second biggest news for me. The love of my father, his sacrifices for his children and every event of life flashed before my eyes. When I got down at Islamabad airport I had a feeling as if my father was with me. May be his spirit was there to receive me at the airport I do not know but I am sure that my father loved me a lot. I felt as if he was advising me that Humayun ! Complete your mission of life. To assist in your mission spiritually I shall be there at all times.

My father was neither a politician nor any renowned public figure. But he was extremely gentle person who loved Pakistan and wanted to do some thing big for the country. He lived all his life with honesty and faith and always taught his children not to leave the path of honesty, credence and faith and not to indulge any thing which would oblige them to hide their faces. He trained and brought us up in such a manner that we have no wound of remorse on our bodies and souls. Not only me but my brothers and sisters were all impressed with this aspect of his character and would remain so during rest of their lives. It is his blessing and prayers that I have succeeded in establishing a small Mughal ?empire? in Japan. With the blessing of God I am father of four sons and a daughter and it is His gratitude that my children are intelligent and sensitive and are serious thinking individuals like their grand father.

I was badly shaken by the death of my father. My Japanese wife and children were also very sad on his death. My wife and her parents tried to console me. Although they are Japanese but we, the oriental people, all think in identical manner. Particularly in sorrow we console each other, love each other but during these sorrowful moments I realised that I have got patronage of many saintly personalities. Perhaps it was due to the fact that my father was a pious man who had a great love and affection for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). All those saints and pious people of whom my father was a devotee now showered their care on me. The spirits of these great people along with the spirit of my father were there to help me now. My father had a great respect and devotion for Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.

Whenever my father would read in a newspaper that a Muslim had been arrested in a European or a non-Muslim country for any moral crime or smuggling of narcotics or he was being punished then my father would become extremely sad. He used to say that due to the crime of a single individual the religion of my master and lord the prophet of Arabia (PBUH) was being maligned. The people would think that all Muslims are like that although the first human being in the world who stopped people from doing illegal things and discouraged addiction under all circumstances was our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Due to such unfortunate people Islam is also discredited. And if that man belongs to Pakistan then the heads of 140 million people are hung in shame and my father would tell me in sorrowful tone that ?if some one who recites Kalima commits any disgraceful act then non-Muslims do not condemn an individual for this act rather they express misgivings about Islam and consider all Muslims as addicts and narcotic sellers. How much pain such an act would cause to the spirit of our Holy Prophet (PBUH)?.While saying this his eyes used to fill with tears. He used to say that those who are involved in such crimes which bring bad name to the religion do not deserve any concession and while punishing them no leniency should be shown. I was lost in these thoughts when I felt that I am at a place much higher than any worldly place where my eyes were open but due to amazement in spite of endeavour my tongue was mute. I tried again and again but could not utter any prayer or any question. However I was told,? We know every thing. We know what transpires in your hearts. You are seeking advice on a problem which is not your personal problem but you are frustrated because you want to wipe out those who want to put a blot on the fair name of the religion of nature and the true din and the message of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH).We are happy that you have not come here for your personal emancipation or the salvation of your father but if you had come with such a request it would not have been some thing unwanted. Rather you have come with great feelings for Muslim Ummah. We want to tell you for your information that the saviour of Islam is Almighty God and the Holy prophet (PBUH) is always present with Almighty God. We are not only with Muslims but we care for all the creatures of the world.. Almighty God loves all the human beings. The magnitude of God?s love can be assessed from the fact that your mother loves you so madly. She has spent all her life in loving and making sacrifice for the children. No one can assess the love and sacrifice of a mother. Only mother can experience it. And God loves every human being seventy times more than the mother.

When I came out of this spiritual trance I found that I was sitting in my Carpet Shop. The picture of my father was in front of me and tears were rolling down my eyes. I prayed for the salvation and higher spiritual status of my father. When I saw the watch it was time for the after noon prayers. Immediately I performed the ablution and stood for the namaz and I do not remember how long I remained prostrating before God but I remember this much that my wife rang me up and asked me the reason why I had not come home. I saw the time. It was really too late. I hurriedly locked the store and left for my home.
