LET THE PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN BUILD A NEW PAKISTAN

I am an ordinary Pakistani citizen. I am not a philosopher or a thinker or a politician or a candidate for election. My thinking or dream of building a new Pakistan is as follows:
We do not need a new philosophy or a new system. The old system that we have is not useless either. Rather we have never practised it honestly so far. Where is the ideology of Pakistan? We never practised it. The ideology of Pakistan is as new in 21st century as it was new in 1947. Our this software will never go old in even during the next thousand years. However we should at least try to follow it. It will always remain new and practicable. High ideals and true dreams never go old nor their importance diminishes. Mother, father, grand parents can go old but one can not throw them into the dust bin. In this modern era the old moral values and thoughts are as Important as these were years ago and it is my firm belief that by following the ideology of Pakistan in its true spirit we can build the new Pakistan of twenty first century. I shall quote the example of computer. If there were no Window 95 we could not have upgraded it to Window 98 and we could not have raised it to Window 2000. If we carry the old system with us we can make many inventions and innovations. Not by throwing away the ideology of Pakistan but by upgrading it we can enter the twenty first century with pride. We now need to become International Pakistani. The time that we have lost and the experiences that we have gained should be kept before us and in their light we should try to understand the sayings of the founder of Pakistan.

Faith This is the first pillar of ideology of Pakistan. We need to lay the new and correct foundations of faith and for it we have to understand its meaning. With religious differences and prejudices we have made this important and valuable pillar very weak and the results are before us. Faith is a pillar not a tree and this can be strengthened and reinforced. It can not grow on its own but once if it is laid with strength then no storm can demolish it. The fault lies with us that we have not properly nurtured our faith. That is why it has gone weak. If we strengthen it with positive and correct thoughts and actions it will again become strong. Because the first pillar of ideology of Pakistan remained weak therefore we could not raise the second pillar that is unity .And in the absence of these two pillars how can we raise the third one namely discipline.

Whenever I go to Pakistan then I stand near the square of three swords in Clifton Karachi for a long time and watch these three swords and ponder over the words written on them which are ?Faith, Unity and Discipline?. And I think that we have indeed written these three words on these swords of stone but could not inscribe them on the hearts of the citizens of Pakistan and made them understand their meaning. Looking at such high ideals and the present predicament of Pakistan I feel pain.

The direct implication of my ideas is that we should make Pakistan a self reliant country on the pattern of Japan. Instead of importing cars, machinery and their spare parts we should import good policies and decent political practices from Japan. If we agree on doing this then I am sure the government of Japan will be too willing to assist us in building a new Pakistan. Japan is already financially helping Pakistan in many sectors but as a country Pakistan does not have a close friendship with Japan. By making this friendship stronger we can obtain more benefits from Japan. Personally I have close contact and friendly relations with many important political and administrative personalities of Japan. Due to complete mastery over the language and having expertise in interpreting this language I have had lot of opportunities to meet the political personalities and big traders, capitalists and industrialists from different countries of the world and listening to their ideas and thoughts .Knowing that I am not a Japanese and am a Pakistani sometimes while shopping they tell me some very confidential things as well which help me to understand their national character. Besides meeting nice and good people in Japan I have also met some dubious people as well. Many Pakistani and Indian citizens are caught while smuggling some commodities or smuggling themselves in to Japan. Some times I have to interpret them as well. This has helped me in learning much about the legal system and its application besides the political, cultural and social traditions of Japan. Thus in addition to politicians, industrialists and traders some lawyers, magistrates and public prosecutors also became friendly with me and from them I learnt a lot about he social and legal traditions of Japan. It should be our endeavour that we should adopt every good thing where ever we find it. It is an Arabic saying that every good and wise thing is heritage of a Muslim. So we should adopt good things and save ourselves from bad things. These principles should be kept before us in democracy and system of governance. Here I want to quote a simple example. In summer days if there is power shutdown (which are quite frequent in Pakistan) we open the windows of the room to get fresh air from outside. But when you open the window along with pleasant puffs of air some flies and mosquitoes also enter the room The example of democracy is the same. Due to full freedom some bad things like flies, mosquitoes and dust also enter the system. In Pakistan we face this problem. When the window of democracy is opened we have an onslaught of dust along with flies and mosquitoes which is painful for every one. My mother generally says that we should not pray for good people because they are already good rather we should pray for bad people that God may make them good. Mother talks about it in her own way but I have read in Bible that Jesus Christ used to say that he had been sent for sinners and spiritually sick people so that sinners become virtuous and sick become healthy. Answering some one?s question Jesus Christ said,? Shepherd has to care about every sheep of the herd but he carries only that sheep on his shoulder which is sick?. He said that he cared more for sinners and sick people and he gave more time to them. Now it is imperative that the bad people should be made accountable and they should be provided psychological and spiritual treatment. DDT should be sprayed to kill flies and mosquitoes of evil so that the conditions of the country improve.

While building new Pakistan care should be taken to keep the window of democracy open but a thin and strong screen of accountability should be installed on the window so that flies and mosquitoes of corruption, bribery and social evils do not enter the room. In that case only the people of Pakistan would be able to enjoy the cool and pleasant air and tranquil life. We need to build a democratic and peaceful Pakistan. The reason for democratic culture and social peace in Japan is that they have installed a very thin and strong screen through which not only flies and mosquitoes but even dust can not enter. That is why it is very difficult to get visa for Japan. We need to import these Japanese windows and doors with thin and strong screens. I am prepared to send all this to my Pakistani brothers without any cost. This effective system of Japanese policies and accountability will allow accountability system to function and if any influential or administrative personality will commit any irregularity or corruption this system will put shackles to him and present him before the law . This will render Pakistan strong. I can say with full conviction that the system prevailing in Japan was not invented by their forefathers. Rather the ideology of Pakistan was given to us by our father of the nation. Which ever country would practise its first principle which is Faith shall tread on the path of peace and progress.

I am living in Japan for the last fifteen to sixteen years and since I have full command over Japanese language and have full knowledge of their rituals and traditions and their social and cultural norms I can say with full confidence that as many honest people I have seen in Japan I have not seen any where in the world. There is no comparison of Americans, British and French people with Japanese. I do not want to say that other nations do not have honest people or Japanese are all hundred percent honest but what I mean to say is that the proportion of honest people among Japanese is more than any other country of the world. That is why the rest of the world has full confidence on Japanese products rather there is no scope for any doubt about it. The real character of a nation depends on its actions. If its actions are good then surely their thinking and heart will be good and ultimately the ideology will be sound.

The punctuality is the first principle of Japanese. The buses, the trains and aeroplanes operate in Japan at a fixed schedule. It is impossible that this time schedule is not followed. The other important principle is cleanliness. You will find thousands of skyscrapers not only in Tokyo but in the rest of Japan. There is no dirt any where. There is not a single building which is sore for the eye rather the buildings and roads are kept glittering with cleanliness. After looking at this cleanliness in every nook and corner of Japan one can draw conclusions about their social cleanliness. The biggest secret of their progress is that discussion on religion and politics is banned in government departments and offices. In Japan political freedom is allowed. Religion is a personal matter of every person and there is no restriction on it but in offices, government departments, schools, colleges and universities the debates on religion or politics is not allowed. There is no sectarianism of any type here.

It will be interesting for the readers to know that I had a chance to talk to the people of different Budhists sects. I had discussions with them but I never found them talking against others nor they do any propaganda against them. Instead of talking with me about Budhism whenever there is a chance they invite me as guest speaker in their meetings. It is their magnanimity that they ask me questions about Islam and I go there fully prepared taking religious books with me and try to answer their questions about Islam as best as I can. Due to this many Budhist monks have become my friends.

The purpose of telling all this is that neither we are weak nor Islam is weak. Therefore we should freely take pride in the goodness of our religion and try to spread its teachings. For example we think that we are Muslims therefore we can monopolise Almighty God and holy prophet. The truth is that the God is the God of all the universe and Prophet Mohammad is a blessing for the whole universe and Muslims are a part of it. So I beg to submit that if any nation develops a strong faith and confidence in God Almighty then God favours that nation. You must have observed that on every American Dollar it is written ?In the name of God we trust?. May be it is on this count that America has made such a fast progress in the last one hundred years which is evident before the whole of world. Morality, character and religious status is a separate matter. The Clinton scandal with Monica Lewinski has made Americans realise that their whole nation has identical character.
