Condolences to Antonio Inoki from Pakistan

1- Prime Minster of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shebaz Shareef

Very Sad to learn about the passing of legendary Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki. I have a vivid memory of meeting him at a stadium in Lahore 10 years ago. He mesmerized a whole generation with his rare wrestling prowess. My condolences are with his family & Japanese people. Prime Minster of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shebaz Shareef

2- Ambassador Farukh Amil

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the people of Japan on the passing away of the great and iconic figure Mr. Antonio Inoki. Inoki San was truly a great sportsman. But he was much more than that. He can be best described as a man of steel but with a very soft and kind heart. He was filled with boundless energy and enthusiasm. When I first met in Inoki San in December 2012, I immediately knew that our friendship would grow. He was very warm and welcoming. Importantly Inoki San, as an internationally recognized star, saw that through sports, bridges of peace and understanding could be built. The world has lost not just a great sportsman but someone who was a visionary in the quest for peace at a time when the world was full of so much turbulence. He was the forever optimist pushing for peace and tolerance to prevail. I would like to extend my condolences in particular to Inoki San’s family, his partner and his friends in Japan. Inoki San will be truly missed. May he rest in peace. We will always remember you. I for one will never forget him. Farukh Amil Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan (2012-2017)

3- Ambassador Syed Ali Asad Gillani

Sincere condolences to the family and friends on the sad demise of a great athlete, icon and human being. Mr. Inoki was loved by millions around the world, especially in Pakistan. Two Pakistani generations grew up seeing Mr. Inoki’s fights with famous Pakistani wrestlers. Even after his retirement from professional wrestling, he made enormous contribution for promotion of wrestling in Pakistan, but more importantly for the friendly relations between the people of Japan and Pakistan. Thank you Mr. Inoki for all what you did, and making contributions much bigger than one life. You will be remembered in our hearts and prayers. May your soul rest in eternal peace. Syed Ali Asad Gillani Ambassador of Pakistan to Uzbekistan.
